Hi,

I believe I've got my doubler put together correctly, but ran across a line in the instruction sheet which confused me. Some of the info is for the Gen1 doubler and some for the Gen2.

When installing the aluminum adaptor plate onto the range box, it says to align the little "bearing retainer tab" with the notch in the adaptor plate.

I didn't see anything like that. Is this relevant to the new doublers or did I screw something up?

That is for the gen I doubler i believe. I helped Zakk install a gen II doubler years ago and the 203 output bearing is installed into the gen II doubler plate and then the plate is bolted to the range box. I believe the gen I doubler used the factory aluminum bearing retainer as well as the gen I doubler plate which had the notch you had to line up.

That makes sense and I kinda figured that was the case. After screwing with that final snap ring, if I never see another snap ring in my life I'll be happy. :D

The right tool for the right job makes life so much easier. I can remove ANY snap ring in less than a minute. Then again, i have proper tools for the job at hand. :D

Any tips on where to get a set of pliers for that kind of snap ring? My smaller set works ok for rings with little loops on the end, but this ring just have angled ends. It would be worth buying a set if I had to do one again.

Here are the pliers i use. Mine aren't Snap-On brand but the same type. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=12015&group_ID=3578&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog
