Hi Guys
I'm new to the page. I have been looking for quite awhile, but just registered. Lot's of good info and it seems like a friendly atmosphere. I'll keep it short though.
I am looking at swapping out my SM-465\205 combo for an auto and the doubler seems like the answer. I have rounded up a TH-400 with a 203 and a TH-350 with a 203. My question is this. What is the shortest possible set up with the doubler? I don't really need an overdrive so the 700R4 is something I havn't even looked at.
I can go with what ever is shortest so if it is something else let me know. Thanks up front for the help. S&R

The shortest version would be TH350/203/doubler/205

The extra length comes into play when deciding which tranny you're going to use. All the 203 range boxes are the same length and so are all the 205's

Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea of or know where I can locate the overall length of the various set up's? I have everything tucked up as tight as I can in my rig so I am trying to keep the driveline lenghts as long as possible.
It sounds like the TH-350 is the way to go. I would like the strength of the 400, but length is the major concern. Thanks for the help. S&R

another combination if you can find a factory adaptor and want a stick at the same length as the TH350 is the 465. with doubler combo.

Ok, i did some research and found out the CASE lengths of every GM auto tranny that you could use.

TH350 = 21.500"
4L60E = 21.875"
700R4 = 23.375"
TH400 = 24.250"
4L80E = unknown

I appreciate the info. The TH-350 just got the go ahead. Is there a page with that kind of info? I looked everywhere I could think of and couldn't find it. Thanks again.

Sounds like you got it squared away, I'm sure you can get rid of the 400/203 on here quick if you need to. That's an in-demand pair.
