If one of the two lower bolt holes was stripped out where the adapter attaches to the crossmember would you heli coil it or just tap it out to the next size bolt it's 7/16 now. Thanks

Its aluminum? drill and tap for 1/2"

Heli coil it, for 1/2" threads.
