I have an ORD 203/205 doubler I'll be installing in my K5 along with a set of tons once I heal up from back surgery.

My first question is what would be the best rear support/torque mount to use on it? The parts truck I bought that it was installed on didn't have one.

DIY4X kit?

One like this?

Here are a couple of pics of it installed on the parts truck.

And one with it and the crossmember removed.

I plan on modifying the crossmember to attach the rear mount to it.

2nd I'm kicking around the idea of adding a sight tube to the 205. Would I be able to drill and tap the OEM large rear cover like NorthWest FabWorks billet cover and not make it weak? I will just replace the drain plug and use push lock fittings.

I'm more concerned with the mount over the sight tube. If I use DIY4X mount I won't be doing the sight tube. Thank you for the help.

Also the doubler is mounted directly to the crossmember without bushings. It has poly bushings where the crossmember mounts to the frame and I'll be installing DIY4X motor mounts to match

I drilled and tapped the aluminum cover for the front bearing support for my sight glass, but my case is going to be rotated flat. You need to make sure wherever you drill it it will be right when its in the truck. I also had to move both my fill and drain plugs, no big deal.

I don't think you could go wrong with either of those t-case supports.

I used the DIY4X style. I liked the fact that it supports the case in a way that would save you if the front shaft got shoved back and bottomed out.

I wish I had put a site tube on my 205. :doah:

Chris, does the DIY4X kit just bolt over the cover or do you replace the cover with it? I can't really tell from the pics on the website.

You need to setup a soft mount between the tcase and the crossmember. Having bushings at the ends of the crossmember is not an affective damper to soak up the drivetrain movement. If you reference my street truck build thread we had a lengthy discussion in regards to this when originally had mine setup this way.
