Hello again my CK5 Family!
Anyone using these headers run in to these issues?
(1975 Chevy K5)
I am putting the new engine in with some Doug's Tri-Y's.
The engine has brand new oem replacement mounts.
All the holes for the engine and mounts are lined up, but the passenger side header is contacting the frame and it is hitting the leaf spring bump stop.
Also the outlet of the header is directed towards the transmission/transfer case cross member not the open passage to the side of it. (dual exhaust setup, no H pipe/crossover)
The driver side has about 2 inches of clearance from the frame rail.
I called Doug's and they have no idea what going on, they offered to look at the header and possibly replace it, but it could take a few weeks.
So I called Summit and spoke with their tech department; here is the short story of what they told me, there is nothing wrong with headers, the fitment is going to be tight, and they gave me permission to do whatever is needed to make them fit. (this includes, denting... bending... and twisting... I asked) the only thing I cannot do, is heat them up with a torch; the torch is the only thing that voids the warranty...
So, to recap, did you have fitment issues like these and how did you get around them?
Thanks folks!
Pictures!
Yes the wires have been rerouted...
Driver Side:

Passenger side: Notice contact with frame, as well as leaf spring bump stop.
