It looks like it will be a good opening day. Were going to head out to an area we have already scouted at 4AM. It should be fun :D

We have the same opening day here in CA! Not much water this year though so dove, quail, chucker might be hard to come by.

Really? We've been getting drenched around here. It's been years since I can remember a monsoon season that dropped this much rain.

I'll sit on my deck and chuck rocks at 'em, should have a BBQ load by noon, that is if I get up by 11:30.:D
These things cannot taste that good, you guys just wanna shoot small flying things???

They taste alright. Quail is better, but the dove breasts grilled and served with some mushroom chowder is pretty tasty :D

BTW, it's raining again right now. It rolled in around 7:30PM local time and hasn't let up since. Lots of lightning and thunder too.

Ought to a bunch of dead ones laying around all over town today, amongst all the broken tree branches...

I miss dove hunting. Dad used to wrap them in bacon and grill them.

There are tons of the little bastards down here but no hunting. I need a pellet gun. :D

Ok ust got back from getting my limit of 10 doves for the morning. My dad got a couple which means no limit. My cousin also got his limit.

There were not a lot of them but they were flying. Took 2-2 1/2 hrs to get. If I was a better shot I would've got them in 1 hour.

I blew it sooooo bad. To begin with, I forgot my hunting license :doah: Then, I was so worried about G&F showing up that I was blowing my shots. I got a grand total of 2 birds, but they went down in the nearby milo fields and I never found them :( I eventually decided to pack it in before G&F showed up. Some of the guys I was with bagged out, and most got at least 5 birds. While most birds were mourning doves, there was a surprisingly large number of whitewings taken as well this year. Overall, it was a good outing for everyone except me :doah: :doah: :doah:

We're probably going to go back out this Saturday and give it another go. This time I will remember my darn hunting license!

Didnt see many dove but went out for an hour. My 3 year old daughter had a blast shooting at turtles with a cheap $15 airsoft gun. It got cool last night and is about 70 and rainy today so alot of the dove will be moving on south from here.:doah:
