yep... I have the vacuum ....see below. So it's safe to say the knock sensor isn't doing anything but plugging the hole in the block correct? Doesnt matter if it's working or not?

My 83 had vacuum advance and was computer controlled...WAS, not anymore...computer gone now, and have a non-computer controlled distributor.
If it has an additional connector that has four pins going to the distributor, it is for the computer controlled advance. The connector is on the backside by the firewall.

you should be fine, the computer has no way to advance the dizzy...

Maybe I should have been more specific...it retards it if the knock sensor senses a knock...doesn't actually work well.
