When the time comes, I'm thinking very hard about this engine for my 78 El Camino. Might be some work, but oh damn, what more could I want ?? How much fun would a 427 big block for a 69 Corvette be in a 78 El Camino ???

Thats wierd I just ran across this site this morning when google surfing. I thought they looked like a good setup and a great price.We dont need another big block but I would definantly be checking into these if needed one.
 
Good price, and I really like the idea of that 7 year / 70,000 mile warrenty. Who wouldn't want a 427 Big Block in thier 78 El Camino ???

Thats exactly what i was thinking, thats an awsome deal.
 
As soon as I get the loan for the car paid off, I'll buy that 427 !!!!! I think I'll back it with a 700r4 for that overdrive, and I'm not sure on what rear end yet, but it will be posi with 3.73 gears.
 
Have some fun with the locals. Find a small Grand Prix with the 301 V8. Steal the motor mount pedestals, put em in the Elco, and drop a mild 455 in it. Put 301 stickers on the motor and go play with the ricers and Mustangs.
 
No 455 when I can get a 69 Corvette 427 big block remaned crate engine. I know there are larger engines out there, but to me, the 427 is like the holy grail. In something as lite as my 78 El Camino, that 427 doesn't need too be majorly built. I'm think a slightly bigger can, a set of rollor rockers, a good dual plane intake manifold, Demon Carb, MSD ignition system, headers, and a 2.5" dual exhaust system strait out the back.
 
I'd run , if money allowed , a huge cubic inch small block . And you can paint it corporate blue , and tell everyone its just the 78's 305 with a new carb and intake :D

Deffently going with that Big Block 427. Heck, I can still tell everybody it's the stock 305. Most people have no idea what they're looking at under the hood anyways, LOL.

Should look pretty good on top of that 427. Wait a momment, maybe 2 of them would look even better. :thinking: :thinking:

yes if money was no problem get the worlds 454 sbc and paint it up blue like you say and say its a small block but 454 cid. and 100 more hp and lbft than a 502 bbc. all of this on pump gas:D

Naw, I'm going 427 BIG BLOCK !!!!!!! I'd like too find a dual 4bbl intake manifold (Not Tunnel Ram) but a single 4bbl will work. I think a 427 BBC will be a lot of fun in a 5th gen (78 to 87) El Camino. In all honesty, I'm building more for the WOW factor then anything else. I'm going for a fun street rod. I think it would be very fun too go on the HOT ROD Power Tour. 427 BBC backed by a 700r4 and a posi rear end with 3.73 gears. Hotchkis Preformance Suspension, (I'm thinking thier TVS + tubeular A-arms) Working A/C and heat is a must. I know it will not be the best set up for MPG's, but that's not a big issue. It also won't be the fastest thing on 4 wheels, but I'm not going for a race car. I guess what I'm really after is just a street rod, a weekend cruser.

For the small block. Looks like I'll have too buy another VS when the big block duel 4-bbl go's in.

Would if I had the money. But my reality is pay off the car loan, and then take another loan too buy the 427 big block. No big deal, it just means I have too wait a while.

Yea, I can relate, my checkbook is kinda rubbery, or the checks have a lot of lift (aero).:haha:

It's just the waiting game. One good thing is it gives ya pleanty of time too search for the parts you want, LOL.
