Alright i just traded some axles, couches, and a cowl hood but i scored a 1997 vortec 454 w/ full harness. supposedly 18,000 on the motor? Anyways i wanna tear it down and give it a run through and was thinking while im in there....... maybe stroke it to 496?
What would you do?
Any spec sheets accepted, also where to source the best quality to value parts from. (if i do stroke it, bigger injectors, re-worked computer and harness???cam??)
This is going into my 1983 suburban (well sort of suburban, i bought a 1998 crew cab body to go onto this frame. :D )

Dream away and put together a build sheet for me since im kinda new to motor building.

Thanks

With only 18,000 miles, I would consider NOT tearing it apart.

Or maybe I would put a blower on top and beef up the fuel delivery system. :D It would cost $2k, but what does a crank, pistons, rods, cam and heads cost?

yeah deffintly blow it... a blown FI vortec big block would be hot!!!

i don't KNOW it has 18,000 miles though i would hate to go through everything to get it in there and have it be worn out. What heads should i put on it? can i just port polish them ??

2k seems a littled optimistic... hes got fuel injection.
