I did this to clear the center spring pin with an ez inch block...upon drilling it drilled like ductile iron, I was wondering if these plates had any type of case hardening and if drilling them might make them susceptible to crack??? anyone else do this? should I just buy steel plates?

I don`t get why you neaded the extra hole.:dunno:
The plate should be centered over the axle,or the u bolts aren`t gonna fit so good.
Or am I thinking wrong?

He is using a zero rate to relocate the axle as I understand it. Doing this requires that you redrill the u-bolt plates so that they can move foward as well to be centered over the axle.

I have also ran mine like that for years. I think that the steel plates made by diy4x and ruffstuff both look a lot better but you dont need them.
