what is a normal diameter of a pin that goes in a dring, i am in the process of desgining some mounts for d rings and i need to know the diameter

the hardware store next to my house has a bunch of them like 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", and 1". Id pick up the 3/4" ones and drill the hole out a little bigger so it fits even if covered in mud.

most (if not all) screw type 3/4" clevis have a 7/8" pin.

7/8" shackle = 1" pin
Those are the 2 typical shackles people use. 3/4" is the most common. Some People use 5/8" shackles but I personally wouldn't use less then 3/4" for a fullsize. I have both 3/4" and 7/8" in my truck.
