I know this is a k5 forum but have noticed alot of you have duramax allison tow vehicles or at least a duramax/ allison vehicle in your signatures .The only diesel forum that I belong to is out of service. I haven't driven my duramax for about 6 weeks decided to charge the batteries and light the fires . I let it idle in the driveway for about a hour. I noticed a transmission puddle about the size of a softball. Under the front bumper ugh. The leaking is from the trans cooler line's. I Google searched the topic and noticed a ton of guys are buying 200.00 repair kits ,but rockauto.com sells the lines for 34.00 a hose???????? Mine is a 07 with 150K on it and this is the 1st failure of the lines . Am I over thinking this by going back with a new 34.00 ac Delco line what's the attraction to the 200.00 repair kits that repairs all 3 lines? Seems like twice the money and twice the work? I gotta be missing something? ???

Is towrig even still alive?

I am not up and up on the details of the Dmax trucks, but if you only have 1 line leaking and you can get an AC Delco replacement line for $34, that is what I'd do.

Yeah the only benefit of the high dollar repair kit is maybe a easier 2 piece install? The original lasted for 9 yrs and 150K

Currious to see where this goes. Mines an 02. My lines don't leak...but they are damp with fluid so I know it's not that far off.

I've heard good things about the repair kits from Merchant Auto. http://www.merchant-automotive.com/default.aspx Which is what I had planned on going with for mine.

The merchant repair kit is 100 dollars more than all new gm lines. I think the 100 dollars might be a convenience fee lol. Trying to route the factory lines without pulling the front of the truck apart looks tough. I found a kit with some high pressure gates lines for about 300 dollars that really looks to be the easiest. It has no hard lines at all.

Replace with good hose...all the 07s have that problem.

Diesel Place it still one of the best sites for Duramax info.

We have replaced a lot of those lines, never had a GM line come back for warranty. It is not super easy to snake it all through but take your time and it can be done in an hour or so.

Now I'll have to go check my truck. I'm sure i'll get a good look when I rip the tcase out for pump rub, and replace the FPR and all the fuel lines.

Your trans lines will be fine! It was the lbz trucks that have the tranny cooler line problems.

Mines an Lb7 (like jekquistk5's) and they are wet, no drips but wet.

I think the problem is more prevalent in the later trucks, but it can happen with the earlier ones too. I think it is mainly the design of the line itself and how the ends are crimped on. GM has always had problems with heater hose lines/oil cooler lines/transmission lines.
