I have a slow drip from the hole in the center of the yoke coming out of the back of the transfer case.

I think I read somewhere (probably here) that you can just clean it up with some brake cleaner and blob some RTV or JB Weld in it. Is this still a kosher fix?

I'm a little worried about where the fluid is coming from. Is it possible the SM465 is leaking into the transfer case, overfilling it? It just seems weird that fluid keeps coming out so high up on the transfer case, unless its just from stuff splashing around.

Any thoughts?

I don't think filling that hole is a good idea. It's there so you don't chance hydro-locking the slip yoke.

I would check the vent on the t-case first, to be sure its not plugged up. Then pull the slip out of the t-case and grease the splines with a heavy grease. The grease should be enough to keep any oil that migrates up there from dripping out past the splines (as long as the vent is not plugged).

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. Some people were saying online that putting grease on it is bad, that it will contaminate the fluid in the TC. But I think all those guys were talking about fixing some clunking problems in their newer trucks.

If you're worried about contamination, smear the grease insde the yoke only. That way the excess will stay in the yoke.
