im gonna put drive flanges on my 44 tomm...what order do they parts get installed??
im thinking this order
spring
gear
clip??

they were used and only came with the 3 parts..does it not have a big snap ring??

OEM flanges?

I've never seen a set with a spring but the way you described it seems like the way to install them.

i knew you would be the first to chime in...helpfull as usuall!!

yeah they are oem..i bought them from someone on here and since i have enough touble unlocking the warn basic hubs im just gonna put the flanges on...

so there isnt a large snap ring...they came off a truck with full time 4wd

Im pretty sure the large snap ring (~same diameter as the hub) is replaced by the cover plate for OEM flanges (thats how my D60 was anyway)

so there should only be the snap ring that fits on the stub shaft

as far as the spring thing: again, havent seen a 44, but my 60 had some big spacers behind the flanges... i would imagine the spring acts the same as a spacer, just make sure it seats on something solid (not able to contact the outer wheel bearing)

My NWF flanges have a large and a small snap ring.

I wouldn't say the larger snap ring does much, there shouldn't really be any side to side force on the flange (i.e. the snap ring(s) don't do much other than keep things from moving around too much).

I'd run what you have, it wouldn't surprise me if you had all of the stock pieces and that it never had that bigger snap ring :thumb:

Grease it but dont pack it with grease. Remember the more grease you have in there the more you will have to deal with when you break a shaft and have to pull everything apart to replace it.

thats exactly why theese are going in due to a broken shaft...
