Has anyone disassembled the double cardan joint and clearanced it to increase the operating angle? Donor shaft is a front from a 2000 f250 superduty.

I read an article about doing it to toyota shafts and figure the same should apply here.

Just curious if anyone here had done this already.

Thanx guys!

Yep. Done it a couple of times. Works fine. Granted the two ive done it on are both off road only vehicles and I dont care much about driveline vibrations.

you gain a bit but not a massive amount . so be careful with how much you open it up . there is aftermarket heads setup for lots more flex and not the problems of modded stock units .

Yes, off road only for me too!!

I know you can buy better heads for this but that costs $$. Modding what i have is free!!

I have taken my double cardan joint apart to clearance grind it. I do not know about a ford joint, but a Chevy joint sometimes need some grinding down clearancing on the inside of the H-yoke because they where made for injection molded U-joints, and not for in-board C-clip U-joints..
