Drive shaft Broken

Hey guys, I have a 89 K I have had the truck since 05,The rear end went out the first yr I had it. Ate up the Diff. BAD. I swapped the rear end out w/an 86K thinking it would be easier than puling the Diff gears. A couple months after it threw the drive shaft on the highway @ 60mph. It wasn't until recently that I realized GM went from a 28 spline gear in 86 to 30 spline 87 and up could this be the reason I threw the shaft and tore up the yoke on the tranny end??. Would the gears matter since they had the same tranny but diff transfercase that yr ?Or could it be the fact that I never got the angle set for the driveshaft and rear end ? or would it matter? Om just fishin.

I dont think that would matter, maybe your u joints where bad. I would check the u joints.

Are the gears the same front and rear?

You probably had two seperate failures, the 28/30 spline thing has nothing to do with your driveshaft problem.
