Drive shaft length

Ok well i have a 78 k5 with a th350 and a np203 currently. Im looking to swap to the sm465/np205 and i wanted to know if i would have to extend or shorten my driveshafts.

You will have the lengthen the rear and shorten the front. It is cheaper to shrten a drive shaft than it is the lengthen it so see if you can find a rea drive shaft with the right ends that will go with your 205 and whatever rear axle you have. Legthening cost about 100 were as getting it cut costs about 35.

About how much will the rear need lengthened and the front need shortened?

Roughy 4 1/2 shorter for the front and roughly 9 inches longer in the rear. lol, that sounds wrong. Cant remember the exact measurements for mine but thats the swap I just performed with my 78 k5

Ok thanks. Im going to wait to do this till i get my lift on and then see what i gotta do with the shafts.

Well it will be different then too, and I am sortof waiting for lift myself. I have the front shaft done. I dont have the rear one done yet, gonna wait for lift I think. I had to do one so I could have the Blazer mobile.
