I am swapping everything from my 78 into my 84. I got it all in there now and my rear driveshaft is about 3 inches to short. If Im not mistaken the wheel base lenght etc.. is all the same as the 78 so why am I coming up short on the length now?

Everything including axles and transmission/transfercase? The transmission I'm sure can cause problems if it is a different one, as can the transfercase, but the rear axle I believe is the same distance (or very close?). I put a 76 K5 drivetrain (350/Sm465/205/Driveshaft from same vehicle) onto my '81 K5 frame, but used the 10 bolt rear axle, and no problems.

Well I put my motor trans and tcase in it left the axles on it that were there.. I think my problem is my tranny/tcase they dont bolt up the the same Im gonna have to drill new holes forward a couple inches so I think that is why I am having a problem. So I am probably gonna have to get a longer drive shaft now I think.

Well, it seems odd, but if its too short, its too short! :( Guess that this is one of those measure twice, buy once stuations now huh? I must have gotten lucky then that a 700R4/208 and Sm465/205 are the same length for my driveshaft to fit. No such luck on the front one though!! Didn't notice until I dropped the truck down off the jack and squashed the front driveshaft : )

ths front one should be close - same bolt up- the rear is what we call an inboard slip- + your diff is ad ifferent u joint series- than the one on your odler sytle t case- just so you know you t case joints is 1310 series and the diff out of the 84 is called 3r series- in case you needed to know-
