Well, I'm picking up the SM465 / NP205 for my swap Thursday and the search for drive shafts has begun. I've googled until my eyes have bled and can't seem to find a part number for the stock drive shaft with the standard transmission. Some of the used ones I've found on line must be made of cobalt or titanium because they are near new prices. I imagine with the 4" lift I'll need a double cardan joint on the top end. Has anyone used these guys http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/ ? I'll post some picks once I get the swap under way. Still looking for driveshafts if anyone happens to have a pair taking up space.

I've ordered parts from Denny's with no problems. Jesse @ HAD can build what you need albeit its not cheap.

Driveshafts out of th350/np205 should be the same length according to some old posts I dug up one time. I've got a used pair of those out of my 72 taking space, doubt you are anywhere near DFW though.

Just get one at a junk yard from any chevy truck with a np205, pretty common through the 80s even. What did your truck originally have for a drive shaft? I had a SM365 and a Dana xfer case orginally and then put in a SM465 and NP205 like you. I have a 6" lift in mine and i remember the front drive shaft had to be lengthened to 32.5". I used my orignal rear drive shaft, but it had to be shortened actually due to the SM465 and NP205 drive train being longer. I used a 1310-1350 conversion u joint to make it work. You can get them at Napa. I got a Dunno if that helps you or not, but you shouldnt need to worry about getting a part number for a stock drive shaft. Just go find a suitable one at a junk yard.

I'm swapping out the th350/np205 so hopefully mine will bolt up. I should know in a week or so once I'm done getting my arse handed to me by these 42 year old ball joints that don't want come out. I've got one more to go and it's a miserable one. The last one I had to cut out! I should have the front end rebuilt by tomorrow and I'll start on pulling the old Th350.

Thanks
