Pretty sure this is my first post, but been reading for a while. Hope someone out there can help. Truck is an 88 3/4 ton suburban, 6.5 with a banks turbo kit. TH 400 trans, NP208 case. Problem is under hard acceleration i get a sound like a gigantic rathcet clicking from the truck. I can't feel it in the seat or floor, but I am leaning towards a tcase issue. Same noise whether in 2 or 4. U joints are new, driveshaft is new, and it has a newer 14 bolt out back. Any ideas??

No, the hubs are manual warn's. Might run it by alocal trans shop and see what it sounds like to him. Most likely it will sound like a 1000 dollars or so. But I might get lucky and find an honest guy.....

might be..

The chain in the transfer case might be stretched out,and slipping over the sprockets under hard acceleration...thats where I'd look first..

Before you take it to the tranny shop crawl under it and pull the cover on the bell housing. Check the flex plate for loose bolts or cracks.

Re-check your u joints, especially if you have any lift. My rear broke and would chatter like that under accel. I had never heard a u joint sound like that before, I thought for sure my rear end was toast.

thanks for the ideas. I will check it out this weekend. And yes, it does have some lift, a six inch superlift kit.
