I have a 2005 Chevy crewcab Z71 that I daily drive. I got in it today to go to school, put it in gear and it's saying the driver door is ajar. It definitely is not. So I went around to all my other doors and opened a reshut them to see if one of them was the culprit. Nope, still says it.
My plan is to disconnect the battery to see if that clears it up. I checked to see if there was a button like a blazer and there's not. I'm pretty sure it's this little plastic rod that tells the computer if it's open or shut.
Anyway, anyone ever have this happen? Or have a solution for this?

The sensor is in the latch on those trucks. I'm not sure of an easy way to figure out what door is causing it without a tech 2 though.

The message center is indicating that it's the driver's door.

Look for damage to the door wiring. Then pull the door skin (very easy on these trucks) and check out the sensor on the latch mechanism. That's all I can suggest - I've never had this problem.

You will probably have more luck on a GMT800 specific forum.

I pulled the door panel off earlier today and inspected all wiring and connectors and everything looks good.
I have a friend that's a service writer for the local dealership, I asked him if it was a common problem, he just said to give him a call after 5 and I could bring it up there and use a tech 2. I'm taking night classes and Friday is my only week night off, so I'll check it out then. I guess I get to drive the blazer to school now...

I googled it and it seems the most common problem is a faulty body control module. Hopefully that's not it, for a new one and a reprogram it's around $600.

My '03 2500HD crewcab had this issue years ago, however it was the rear drivers side door. You would be driving down the road and all of the sudden the message center would say door ajar the chime would start....not that big of a deal until the factory alarm (honking and lights flashing) started going off at 3 a.m. with the truck parked in the driveway.

I was not in a position to work on it myself so took it to the dealership. Originally they replaced the door latch module thing but I didn't make it out of the car lot before it acted up again (the service manager got an earful...). Pretty sure they replaced the BCM next and the problem has never come back after all of these years. I always take what the invoice says with a grain of salt...

I'll hopefully figure it out tomorrow. I'll be able to look at it with a tech 2.

Well, I'm pretty sure it's the BCM. My guy that works at the dealer that I was supposed to go see fell through, but yesterday I was driving my truck and at first it was normal. No "Driver door ajar" or anything. Then as I was driving my truck started freaking out and the door ajar was going off, along with the chime and the rear locks where locking and unlocking by themselves. That went on for 15-25 seconds, then would stop, and after a minute or 2 it would do it again.
I thought the BCM was a dealer only item, but decided to google it and found them online. I used to swap them when I worked at a dealership, but can't remember if the car would start and drive without a reprogram. I'd rather change it at home, then bring to the stealership to have them reprogram it. I only live 2 or 3 miles from the local dealer. I guess I should just call and ask them...

I would pull it, check for water intrusion, and make sure the cable is making good contact.
Plus check and clean any ground connection first.

Sure sounds like its got some water in it, or its not making good power contact.
