Trying to figure out why my driver side window won't roll up or down. I had the truck in for paint and they took the window out and cut some wires.. So I have to figure out how this thing was wired..

There should be 6 wires to the window switches on the driver door, correct? what colours? I only see 4..

I have a 1983 silverado blazer with power windows and have the same problem on the pass. side, but fortunatly the drivers side is good. Mine has Six wires going to the master switch in the drivers door, Black, Brown, Tan, Red, Blue, and Blue with a White stripe. If you are trying to wire them to the switch, you are going to need the correct order. I'm having the same problem on the passenger side as the switch was broken and the wires cut, unfortunatly there are only five wires on the pass side and i'm having a hard time getting them in the right order on the switch, which if not done correctly......... the window will not work. But the drivers side works fine!

If the problem is only cut wiring, just splice the same color wires back together. But, there are only two wires going to them motor itself. One blue, one black. There are several more going to the switch.

downandirty, if you are close to Seattle I have a partial wiring harness you can have for free if you want to pull it out of the door. the wires were cut where they enter the cab, but inside the door is all there and in good shape.

The wiring diagram I have (1979) shows 5 wires on the LH door and 3 wires on the RH door at the window switch. It also shows 3 wires at the motor though so it is probably different from the 80's trucks that I have seen before.

RH UP - DK BLU/WHT
LH UP - DK BLU
Power - PINK
RH DWN - BRN
LH DWN - TAN

That would solve all my problems! How do I find you? I picked up the truck up in Montana, it was parked in a field and wouldn't run right. The guy had put a crate motor in and has spent some time working on it, new transmission, so for 700 bucks I couldn't go wrong.. the dist. cap wasn't in index and the smog pump was worn out. I gave it a tune up pulled all the smog crap off and put an older HEI in and it runs great! The interior is in poor shape. It's now my project, for now i'm just trying to get all the creature comforts working then who knows where!

Thanks

Dave

My pass side is good downanddirty, if you need help I can get you pictures of it and details about how its wired. Mine is a '90 K5 so it should be the same. I am definitely missing the 2 wires for the driver's switch.

well I found out the problem. The blue and brown wire that comes up from the window motor to the switch was altogether gone. (I found it later in the cab on the floor). I got the window up for now at least, but its looking like I need a new switch and motors.

I'm considering LMC for some new parts. I'm also probably going to do the relay upgrade for better speed. I also need new weatherstrip throughout.
