Has anyone swapped in a driver’s drop NP241C in to their square body? Did you run in to any issues with cross member or driveline fitment? Reason I ask is I’m getting ready to swap in a ’79 Ford Dana 60 and a ’04 AAM 14-Bolt under my stock height (for now) ’84 Diesel K5. I already have a TC from a ’99 Tahoe and a gauge cluster from a ’90 Suburban with the electric speedo that I’ve been holding on to for my eventual LS swap but I still need to pick up a DRAC. I’ve read a couple threads on here and other forums about how to wire the DRAC and add a 7-pin dip switch (just ordered) to adjust tire size and gear ratios so I think I’m good with that. Can I just pop out the gauges from the newer gas cluster and swap in the gauges from my diesel and have everything read correctly? Is there anything else I should worry about or need to pick up?
Thanks,
Anthony

You'll probably have driveshaft to exhaust clearance issues on a stock truck with a high pinion front axle.

I would plan on a relocation of the oil filter. I knew of one that a friend, he made a filter gush with the front shaft....

And I would like to ask what your plans are for the t-case shifter. That was the main thing that kept me from converting my '90 K5. I wanted it to look right. I didn't want to mess with the carpet as of now either....

Sorry about the delay, I wasn’t getting any alerts about there being new posts… Thanks for the heads up on the possible driveshaft issue, I’ll be sure to cycle the suspension a little once I get the new front axle in to check for clearance issues before I start driving it around. Worst case scenario I guess would be leaving the front shaft off until I can put together the money for the lift kit.

I was able to pick up a couple DRAC modules this weekend but could only find ones from ’92 and ’94 TBI trucks so I’m crossing my fingers one of them will work with the ’90 gauge cluster I have. Once the 7-pin dip switch comes in I’ll try to get it soldered up and see about actually getting the 241 swapped in.
