Driver-side to Passenger-side clocking feasibility

What technical challenges prevent driver-side T-cases from being clocked around to drop on the passenger side? Does it hit the body? Does it not function upside down? Is it just the inconvenience of the linkage / speedometer sensor placement? Something else?

I don't think I want to do this, but the idea has come up repeatedly since I have a nice driver-side NP241 lying around right now...

I assume that if this were easy I would have seen it by now.

The biggest deal is the oil pump on that one, when upside down it doesn't get any oil.

I kinda figured it would be an oil issue. Are there other T-cases that are able to do this well?
