One morning my window didn't want to go up easily but I coaxed it a bit. For a week when I hit the switch it would spin freely or pop in one direction, and click like a gear was stripped in the other direction (think cordless drill on lowest torque setting).

I went on vacation for 2 weeks and now it just gives a faint click like the motor is too weak or the regulator is locked up. I can't seem to get the overload breaker to click no matter how long I hold it.

I have good power and clean contacts at the switch. I pulled, pushed, and punched the regulator arms to maybe get it to budge, but I couldn't.

I am in the PNW so it rains all the time so I don't want to get stuck needing a regulator if the motor isn't the issue. What do you think? Just a motor I hope. Also, how can I prevent that spring from effing me up when I remove it? I slammed a tailgate regulator on my hand and still have the scar, lol...emotionally too, apparently.

I would bet on the motor. I had to put one in my '90 a month or so back. Same noise symptoms, but it kept making noise until the weekend, when we changed it. I out on a used one that I had because I didn't have time to wait for a new one.
Rockauto has new Delco ones.

I haven't had a problem with the door window regulator biting. The edges of the door sheet metal are not fun. I take the window switch out of the panel once the panel is off, plug the switch back in so that you can move the window up and down for easier manipulation of the rollers and track.

Don't forget to plan time to clean and lube the regulator and lock parts while you are in there.
