For some reason, my drivers side door on my 84 K-5 is locked shut. Before I locked it last night, I tried the lock and key before actually shutting it, and it worked. Now, I can't even pull up the manual knob to lock it. The key won't even turn to unlock it. It's like something is jammed. The knob will wiggle and go up a little, but it doesn't actually unlock. This truck has power locks, even that won't open it. Any idea as to what the heck happened? I don't see anything stuck or wedged to make the door get stuck. Help!

No, I didn't lock my keys in there. I did that with my 87 this morning. Good thing the topper window lock is broke, that's the only way I got in. Anyway, it doesn't make sense.. it was working before I closed the door. but now it's stuck.

hmm that is odd there really a pretty simple lock one of the easyest (sp) there is a decent locksmith or car theifth can be in one in less then 2 seconds i would try lifting the lock with slim jim maybe for some resone the key tumblers went bad or something werid like that if you need a detailed way to build a slim jim and use it on there i can tell you they are very easy to build and use ona 73-86 truck

Sorry to hear it happened. But it's good to hear it happened to another person too. You need to take the door panel off. It's tight, but it'll come off. And you'll see a linkage rod down by the area of the striker bolt. If you frig with that, you'll eventuall hear/feel it reengage. Then all you do is pull the knob back up. When you get it working, shoot some PB Blaster on the linkage and grease the latch at the stricker bolt. That should solve the problem. Let me know how you make out.

Why do people keep calling it a Bronco!!!!!

My 87 does this a couple of time a week. Press in on the outside button. Then the key will turn, or you can pull up on th einside lock or handle. Never did look at it to find problem. I figure as long as I can get in and out it's okay.

If that don't work take it apart.

This makes me feel better, i though my Jimmy Just didn't like certain people or wanted to keep some ladies in(hehehe). It olny does it on the pass side, and if you lock it then close the door it has more of a chance of jamming. But all I ever have to do is push the outside button and the key works easily or knob, either one. I have power locks also.

Is the weather below freezing? I've had the door linkages on a '72 K5 freeze once. Had to crawl in through the back window. I learned not to wash my truck on days when it was going to get really cold that night!

The same thing has happened to me twice in the last month. In my case it wasn't the mechanism behind the door striker like CV202 said. It was the mechanism in the top of the door behind the outside handle. It's the piece that pushes the button back out, but it was bound up. So if CV202's method doesn't work try the other mechanism. I was able to jimmy the door open to work on it but it took a couple of hours. Clean the rust off the best you can and spray some lubricant on or grease it like CV mentioned.

That happens to me too, but only when I'm in a hurry, with girls, etc.

Actually its cool it does make me crawl over them to go out the pass. side.

I recently bought a TA with power door locks. Everytime you shut the doors they would magicaly lock. It turned out that both the power motor locks were froze in the lock position. But i could still (barely) get in with a key. I had to disconnect the power part of the locks and now i have manual locks.

I've got the same problem on my 84K5. It happens everyday. All I have to do is push in the outer button and release, then turn the key. When I first got my blazer it drove me nuts trying to figure out why my key didnt work.

. I'm so used to it now that I push in the button before turning the key without thinking about it.
