Hey guys,

I just recently purchased my first 86 k5, and I have a few questions....

I installed at 6 inch lift on it and I am having a problem with the front driveshaft hitting the exhaust pipe. The truck has stock exhaust manifolds with aftermarket mufflers. What should I do to fix this problem? I am looking at replacing the manifolds with some headers.. Has anyone ever had this issue?

Thanks for your help!

I have the same issue, and I'm sure countless others came across the same problem. I however was able to skinny on by with my 4" lift, but my front drive line is within a 1/16 of an inch before making contact. The only work around is re routing the Y pipe so it is above the front drive line, or just going straight duals. If you have a small wire feed welder and a tubing bender then your all set, other than that you will have to take it down to a muffler shop and have them do all the fab work for you. If it were me personally, I would bite the bullet and go duals with some high flow headers :waytogo:

My exhaust guy did a great job of just going under the front driveshaft with my four inch lift. Plus he fed them both into a Y that works very well. Total from header to the tailpipe with new magnaflow muffler and high flow cat ran me just over $500

you might be able to get away with just using a driveshaft spacer like those offered by superlift (part #4310). it will space the shaft 1" out from the t-case, in some cases allowing the front shaft to miss the exhaust. Crawl under your truck and see if the flange being 1" further forward would fix it.

I was able to take my truck to the exhaust shop this morning and he simply rerouted the piece that was hanging in the way. 20 minutes and $40 dollars later I was on the road with 4wd!

Thanks for yalls help..

Now on to my other issues.......
