Well decided to do a one ton axle swap on my 89 K5. Ok......everything is suppose to work right? NO! Heres what Im running. 14 bolt rear, 56 " spring swap in the rear, zero rate to move axle back one inch to center it up, DIY4x4 shackle flip with 6" shackles. Put the rear driveshaft in with tcase and pinion matching each others angles. Front joint angle is horrible......would probably bind when drooped. Shaft is too short as well.....would probably fall out when drooped. I was under the impression that the rear shaft bolted right in from stock K5.....wrong. So now I need to get a new shaft made. CV looks like the only way to go. I have a NP241 and its a stock slip yoke. Would that be ok for mild trail riding and street duty? Really dont want to spend the coin to put a SYE kit on it. Just need some advice on what to do. Didnt see this coming and pretty bummed out.

fronts basicly swap yes . with around 4" of lift and no mods .

rear is 1/2 ton to 1ton joint size first strike . next is pinion sticks out farther over 10/12 bolt axles strike 2 . lift and blazer in 4" is ? zone for shaft if over 4" lift = shaft for sure and c/v it and be done .

Well I have the SM465 tranny so rear Ujoint is the same so I was good there. 3 degrees on rear axle and 3 degrees on tcase made a 24 degree driveshaft. No bueno. Who do yall recommend for shafts? HAD, Tom Woods, ???? Those two are about the same price but not sure on anyone else. Nobody local to do this kinda thing but Denver is a couple hours away.

jesse @ had use to be here a lot but is mostly on pirate if he posts cause he so busy .

I have emailed and called and chatted with him a lot over the years . I would prob pick him my self .

never talked to tom woods my self .

Just went through driveshaft work myself. Ended up having to go cv (double cardan) as the working angles were too much after going to 1-tons.

Just got done with a sye kit and cv driveshaft install on my 1990 blazer. The best thing I have done for the old girl so far. I bought a Tom Woods drive shaft and it came out to $470.00. 1350 CV driveshaft about 38" long. I would get both the sye kit and the driveshaft, buy once cry once and be happy. The JB conversion was $466 shipped plus the new driveshaft for $470. The best thing I have done, the engine, trans, and running gear and all happy now. Everything operates smooth and runs goods, very happy with my purchase.
