I came across an extended driveshaft wich i need. The only issue is that the guy that's selling it says he took it off of a 14bolt & i want to use it on my 10bolt. Would it fit? i think he said the u-joint caps or u-joints wouldnt fit.

it depends what size the yoke is on the driveshaft itself, if it is a 1 ton (1350) driveshaft, u can buy a conversion u joint that most people use to connect their 1/2 ton driveshafts to 14bolts. all u have to do is use it in reverse...if that is the case. just find out what size the driveshaft yoke is.

on his ad it says it has a 1 ton rear yoke & he also said it was used on a np203 & i think i have a np208,(the ID plate is messed up) someone told me the rear driveshaft on the 203 is longer than the one used on a 208, is that right?

He had it on his 77 blazer k5 i dont know what transmission but i know he had a np203 on it with a 14bff. I have a 85 blazer k5 with a 700r4 trans & a np208.

you would have to swap to conversion joints and swap the slip yoke from your old shaft to the other shaft. Why are you wanting to do this?

Its because i got a 4" lift kit & now my rear driveshaft is out of my t-case 3 inches! it vibes on & off on streets & on the fwy i can only do 65mph MAX or it'll start to vibe. & the one i found the guy says its extended 1 inch from stock.

How much does he want for it? I had a new tube put on my rear shaft for a $100. for an 8in. lift.

ok, Im assuming that your truck gets driven on the street alot. If you are running a 4 inch lift and have spaced down your transfer case with the spacers that it comes with and still have vibes then you really need to check your rear pinion angle. If that is ok then I would use a double carden at the transfer case. I might still have one from back when mine was a DD. Ill check and see

at 4 inches i dont think the angle would be too off? i do know the slip yoke behind the t-case is out exactly 3 inches. I think if it were back in at least 1 1/2 inches it would be ok.

Im just going off my experiance... When you lift a vehicle you change the driveshaft angle at the transfer case. If you are having vibrations this is the first thing I would address. You do need to lengthen the DS as well. Also dont forget about the front shaft.

As a reference, here is what my K5 looked like back then
4inches on 35s

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all 203's bolt on yokes? And all 208's slips yokes? Wouldn't the shaft from a 203 truck have a slip joint in it? And the one with the 208 be solid?

you are half right.... in that you contradict yourself in the second statement.

203= fixed yoke
208= Slip yoke

im guessing the driveshafts are not interchangeable?

Ok, by this question I am going to say that you should not ever question any advice you get from any established member of ck5. If you dont know that they wont swap directly then damn.

i know theyre different now, i just didnt know that you cant use one on the other. I thought maybe by just eliminating the part that bolts on & keeping that u-joint maybe it would work.
