Well first off this is my first K5 i have owned and also first off road vehicle i have owned. so this is all pretty new to me learning alot as i go. i bought an 86 blazer (with a 305) that has from what i can tell is 4 inch lift 2 spring and 2 of blocks. been driving it for a couple weeks now and just had the driveshaft pop out. nothing broke but i can't get it to stay in the trasfercase. it keeps popping out. what would be the best way to fix that and/or cheap way to fix it. i have been told to lower the trasfercase and i have also been told to get an extended driveshaft.

it popped out just driving down the street. and it didnt pop completely out just diconnected to wearing it wasnt turning the wheels. i pushed it back in and it stayed in for about 5 minutes till it popped out again

How about a pic of this driveshaft. There is now way it should pop out just driving on flat ground and definately you should not be able to "push it back in". I'm thinking maybe someone installed a driveshaft with a slip in the shaft in your 86 blazer which should have a 208 that uses a slip yoke on the driveshaft that would slip in the t-case. If you have what i'm thinking then you have two slip points and that is your problem.

and i have also been told to get an extended driveshaft.

With my 4" lift I had to get the driveshaft made 2" or so inches LONGER. The first time I hit the brakes harder than normal the rear shaft dropped right out.

Now I need to shim the rear axel up a little, When I hit the brakes to hard the rear u-joint binds up.

I have my rear axle shimmed 7* between the blocks 3* and the 4* add a shim. The u-joints love it. Now I just have to get the longer Drive shaft made. It has not popped out yet... but its close. (with a 5 inch lift I should add)
