Driveshaft question

a buddy of mine has a 91 k5, and he snapped the driveshaft at the transfer case. The U joint didn't go, it was a cone shaped thing at the transfer case. I have a few questions, if we go to the junkyard what should we look for- just the new cone shaped thing or, he has the idea he needs a whole new transfer case. In that case is it a 241 or 205?

its a 241. what broke was the slip-yoke, its a very weak design. look for a whole t-case. only a 241 will work from a 90-91 because its electrical speedo, not mechanical like -89. also need it to be 27 spline to go into the 700r4. gettin a np205 would require work to get it to work

thanks, well looks like we might be pulling a whole transfer case soon then. any tips?

not really, when i pulled a buddies out we just let it drop. drain all the fluid out first as well.
