Is the driveshaft length the same with an 350or400w/205 sm465w/ 205 is there any difference and is the crossmember located in a different spot?

I think in a given year , they are same length , with the difference made up in the adapter . The u-joints are different on the 4 speed manual trucks versus the automatic trucks though .

What leads me to think this is the sm365/np208 combo I traded away , we laid the shafts side by side and they matched my 700r4/np208 for length .

Okay i see what you are saying there but is the overall length of a 465/205 combo shorter or longer than an automatic/205. The reason is cause i have a 700/208 in my 84 k5 now and i am swaping it with a 465/205 but can i get a drive shaft from an automatic blazer or is ther a difference.

I mixed and matched driveshafts from different years and drivetrains and couldn't find one that matched the 465/205 combo. Also, if you use a driveshaft from an auto setup, you are going to have a really hard time fitting it in unless the tcase has a slip yoke adapter on it. Mine has a fixed yoke and I ended up using a DS that has a 2 piece (one end slides into the other, similar to a front driveshaft) and had it shortened to fit my truck.
