How much is too much? There is a lot of slop in my front drive shaft. Is this something I should be worried about? Truck doesn't get wheeled or worked hard, just a daily driver.
Go packers. Is it the u-joints, cheap easy fix. Is it leaking? Nothing worry about if your not using 4 wheel drive. 1/8" would be getting bad 1/16 ok. But winter in wi can get bad. Could get a used one from your local salvage yard or a pick n pull. Lots of blazer parts on Craigslist too.
Its in the splines. Its like 3/8ths inch slop up and down. Yeah, snow can get hairy here. And I'm four blocks off lake Michigan. I don't have the option to stay home until the roads get cleared if we get a bad snowstorm. Will any front drive shaft work in my one ton?
That front shaft is bad 3/8 is to much. You'll get vibration at speed and could come apart. I would take it out. You could take it to a driveline shop and they can fix it. About $200. 1 tons are bigger wont fit without mods. Length is important. $320 plus 40 core at lmc truck if stock. Or a used one for 75
One ton shaft is no bigger or different. All GM fronts use the 1310, even the D60 front. I'd get it rebuilt, although complete new might be nearly the same money wise.
