I put a 3" Tuff country lift(new springs) on my 78 GMC jimmy about 6 months ago.I replaced the U joints in the rear drive shaft a few months later(they were borderline bad before the lift). The New U joint on the rear shaft is failing at the transfer case after about 2 months of daily driving. Why would the u joint fail so soon?I am only running 33" pro comp X-Terrains.Is there a stronger U joint that will fit a stock driveshaft or should I just go with the Brute force or another heavy duty U joint?Any help is greatly appreciated. thanx David

Spicer u-joints last the longest. When I used to DD my truck (when it had a 4" lift) I went through a set every 18 months or so.

As soon as I saw this I was thinking driveline angle. A k5 rear driveshaft is fairly short to begin with (for a fullsize) and gets quite an angle to it when you install a lift. I would use a spincer joint, or get a custom rear shaft with a cv, or spacer down the crossmember to relieve some of that angle. There are mixed opinions on the spacer process though.

When the angles through the upper and lower joints dont match, the joints get eaten pretty fast. So x3 on how are the angles?
