Got a few questions..:

How far should the slip yoke at the transfer case stick out..on my '82 K2500,I noticed it has about 3" of the splined portion sticking out of the transfer case..is this normal?..I've never had the shaft out,so I have no idea how long the slip yoke is...I noticed a sticker on the driveshaft tube indicating it was a replacement at one time..(now its so scaly with rust I fear it might twist up like macaroni if I boot it too hard!:eek)..so if I get another shaft I want to get the correct length,if this one is a tad short..the truck is all stock,no lift kit or springs,etc..

Another question :

Has anyone used a master cylinder off a truck with vaccuum power assist brakes on a hydroboost equipped truck??..I have a rebuilt master cylinder I saved off of my '74 GMC K2500 and it looks the same externally, but I dont know if the piston size or where the pushrod seats is the same depth,or if it even has the same bolt spacing (appears it'll bolt on by measuring)..I'd just take it off and try it if I have too,but I was hoping someone here would know off the top of their head if it's swap on or not..if not,a rebuilt master isn't THAT expensive, but being ever so destitute,I'd rather not buy anything I dont have too--at this point even brake fluid is "expensive"..:doah:

I would not even worry about how your driveshaft is now if you're planning on a new one. If you plan to have a new driveshaft made ask the shop who is going to build it for you how to measure for the proper length. They do this all the time and would be the person to ask, only thing though is DO NOT ask one shop how to measure then have it built at another shop because not every shop will have you measure the same way.

Yeah,I just dont want to have a clone built of the old one if in fact it is a bit "short"..
I haven't had any issues with the shaft,it just appeared to me it has a lot of exposed spline yoke sticking out of the tailshaft, but then it might be 6" overall length and be "in" plenty far enough too..I'm used to seeing only an inch or so sticking out on most vehicles with tailshafts ..I am going to run this shaft until it gives trouble,it might never get to that point seeing the truck sits most of the time..

Looks like rain the next 3-4 days,so it dont look too promising as far as me getting any work done on it this week..:(
