Hey there, I'm new here and figured I would let you guys know about my build and ask a few questions. I bought a 1986 k5 blazer, 90% rust free, with a mildy built 350 (what i was told) no tranny, no t-case, 14ff rear, 10bolt front with 8 lug hubs. Both are open with 3.73. The guy had done a diy4x shackle flip and put 63" rebuilt springs in the back and rebuilt 52" springs in the front. He said he thinks there is about 7" of lift. He has it set up for 4 wheel disc brakes but didn't finish it. I have since taken it down to a bare frame and i am blasting it and painting it w/ por15. I gutted the carpet and rear panels and im going to fix the little bit of rust and apply a roll on bed liner to the inside. I bought a TH400/np203 and he threw in a 10 spline np205. I was going to go with a doubler but I am going to wait due to cost and lack of rocks in my neck of the woods. I am going to set it up with crossover steering. It doesn't have shocks and im not sure how to go about installing them cause I want it to be real flexxy like! I am going to need tires and custom drive shafts. Where is the best place to get the tires and driveshafts. I was going to go with 38.5x11x16 boggers. I haven't done a search on the driveshaft issue but I will if no one answers. Anything ive missed? Any tips? Thanks!

tires..if you pick them up in person a 4wheel parts will do, if ordered I think tirerack.com can get them to your door.

as for the driveshafts.

highangledriveline has a great rep and seems to treat everyone right, build a good product and stand behind it.

where not to go for a driveline based on a large amount of complaints..ARIZONADRIVELINE..do some google searching for feedback and make an choice based off of good and bad feedback.

If you have a local driveshaft shop, I would try there first unless it's something custom. I used HAD on my first driveline and they did a great job and have a great product. But at $450 each for the front and rear, it sucks to break!

I went to a local shop for my second set. They are a third of the price and the work is as good as HAD.

The best thing to do when working with a local shop is to go in with part numbers for a custom build. For example, on my front shaft, I found the 1410 series yoke number and called the shop to have them order it. The cost was a lot less expensive than anywhere on the net and I am supporting a local company. btw, I used Driveshaft's Inc, here in Tulsa...
