sorry about the furd question but
When shifting from drive to reverse on a f250 custom duty it clangs horribly

it is not driven much
it is used only to haul firewood by my 84 year old great uncle
has 4.9 litre and a dump bed

does not get moved much at all

As stated above I would check u-joints first. Tranny mount second. I have a 3/4 ton GMC that makes that sound with the front drive shaft out.
