I need to know how to drop a steering column. I need to get to the wiring that sits above the steering column near the fuse panel. (the ignition switch wires)

Do I just remove the 2 nuts near where the column meets the dash? I don't need to remove the column just drop it down to possibly get some clearence to work in there.

Thanks

You will possibly also need to remove all the screws at the attaching plate to the firewall, (8) IIRC.

On my 85 i removed theto bolts underneath the column, remove the cover for the gauges, and disconnect your wire for the transmission indicatror if you have a auto.I did mine without removing the screws for the firewall but whatever works for you. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

you need to unhook the steering shaft someplace, take off the plate at the firewall, unhook the wiring and take off the 2 dash bolts and she should be good...
