I'm getting ready to drop my T-case and tranny to change out the torque converter. Last time I did this I almost ate an NP203. Dose anyone have any suggestions on how to make this process easier.
I use a floor jack and drop it all together
then i break it down
much easier for 1 guy,
then i mount the trans
and then put the tcase on the jack and bolt it up
works for me and ive pulled the same one 6 times
I used a tranny jack and chained the tranny and t-case to it. I didn't even drop the unit down when i changed my flexplate, just slid it back far enough to get it out of the way to do what i had too.
Pull the seats and pull the floor hatch over the tranny/t-case combo and drop a chain from an engine hoist through there. You can use this to lower them down.
I have an transmission jack attachment that goes on my floor jack. Pulling the NP203 was easy but putting it back in is a pain in the @$$. I dropped it once from about 10 inches up, but it didn't do any damage. Something like Grim made would be great. Wish I was smart enough to think of that /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif
