Is there any difference between the axles themselves or is it just the hubs?

mmmmm. What axle? I'll assume we're talking 14BFF. (The D70 uses the same hubs, IIRC, but there are more variations in sizing.)
The C&C dually 14bff has the same tube and shafts as the SRW, yes. The differences are in the hubs and the brakes. The brake mounting flange is ~2" farther inside on the dually axle than on the SRW, matching the fact that the hub is 2" farther in.
Now, there IS a *wide* dually 14bff, but they're pretty rare, and would only likely be found on late 80's trucks, including the IFS body style rigs.
If you're going to be swapping DRW and SRW hubs, expect to have to do something about the brakes: either weld-on brackets for a disc conversion, or cut and move the flanges for drums.

Yep just the 14bff thanks for the replies. hmm I wonder if I can find a cad drawing for the Dually hubs anywhere. So there should be no different in the axles? I bought a SRW axle and my plans for it may be changing to possibly a DRW setup instead of the SRW
It really does look stock, except it has more tires in the back than it should ... most people don't notice, but the Chevy-hip among us do a double take
hmm good to know. I do plan on going to a 19.5" wheel and commercial tires, So If i leave it with the SRW hubs then I'd be sticking out an extra 4" total?
yep makes sense thanks. Well at least I know I don't have any major work to do to the axle to put dual rear wheels on it. I was thinking about doing a 10-bolt conversion adapter so I can put a 19.5 or a 22.5 inch wheel on it. IS there any difference in the front axle?

) and ... eventually it'd be easier to just buy a damn C60 and be done with it. There was a guy who was putting a Suburban body onto a C60; sweet rig, tons of room inside, and depending on the WB of the donor truck, could prolly fit a flatbed BEHIND the Burb body and have the best of all worlds
I'm talking for the front. the 14bFF should be strong enough behind a dieselyour srw axle will need the studs swaped in the hubs to drw longer ones for full lug nut contack with drw rims on them.
4x4 dana 60 axles are the same for gm trucks except the hub/rotor assembly. its srw or drw with the spacer built in. you can get drw axles cheeper than srw as most want to convert to srw.
