What about that space under the rear seat where the body jumps up. Mount one on either side under there in some nice custom boxes. I always thought that space was wasted anyway.
 
I put mine behind the drivers seat. I made an aluminum bracket to hold them down to the floor. they are wired with a 150 amp fuse and I put my power inverter right next to them. it runs my battery chargers for the cordless impact and the cordless drill.

I did for a while when I had 10 inch rims. Now I am just trying to be prepaired. I carry about twice the tools and spare parts that most people do. I dont get stuck on the trail when the shiot hits the fan. I also like to help other people fix their rigs so the group can get moving again.

also its real fun when you stop to help someone on the side of the road and you change their tire in under 5 min from bang to bullets.

since even most of the built jeeps run chevy engines...I can be in high demand on breakit day
 
No, I own an auto repair shop, Most of the parts dont cost me that much, but if someone needs it to get home they can have it. I have found that this is a very rewarding stance to take on things...when my shiot breaks, I have all kinds of people who will help me. Thats just how it should be, people helping others if they can. I had a guy once give up his only run in tellico to stay behind with me when my fuel pump separated from the fuel sending unit. I was tailgunner at the time and about 15 feet onto trail #4 the truck died. This guy was in front of me and he stayed back with me while I tried to figure out what it was. He drove all the way to the gas station and back to get gas. after we put that in it it still wouldnt start. I could hear the fuel pump running but had no fuel pressure. I wanted to drop the fuel tank right there near the trailhead to #4 (out of the way) but my fiance was with me and they would not leave me there. So I let them tow me all the way back to camp....over the hill from crawfords. The guy was in a Jeep and I must say he was one of the best kind of people you could hope to meet. I had multiple people stop to help and I must say most of them were in "contraptions" eg not a blinged out 80k rock crawler jeep... those are the people that I strive to live like... the ones who will forego a day on the trails to make sure someone else makes it back home.

ps. this pic was taken about 15 min before my truck died... thats my fiance standing in front and then the jeep in front of me is the one who helped me out... as you can see we had quite a few rigs on that ride.

how bout one on each side of the radiator at the bottom of the rad support. that way the weight is low and the tilt won't effect them much in the way of long cables. best way to describe this would be like the factory setup but lower.
 
Yeah, I thought about that, but it's too much weight, I think, for the glass front end The front clip is pretty light, I don't think it could hold up to 60lb's hanging way off to the edge on each side.
I re-evaluated the need for dual batteries. While I think it would be nice, it's definitly not nessesary, as the battery I have (Optima D31A) is one of the best out there for Amp-hours, CA, and general toughness. I tried to do the stack actually, but there just wasn't enough room to do it. So I just went with a single. I could have probably fit 2 smaller Optimas in there.
