My 84 K5 has dual exhaust that was hung by the previous owner. The problem is its old and has leaks all down the pipe, and he only ran it to the back axle so the exhaust blows straight on to the shocks ( which need to be replaced ). Well i went to a local shop here in Beaufort,SC and they wanted to charge me $600 dollars to redo the exhaust with Magnaflows. I was looking at only wanting to spend half that amount. Am I unrealistic about prices or is this guy trying to screw me. I want a job down right but I dont need top of the line exhaust. Any input? thanks.

:doah::eek1::yikes: thay seen you coming.

shop around.

up here in the rust belt of new york we have local shops that will do the whole thing with aluminized pipe and magnaflow mufflers for under 300 everyday.

and might think of doing ypipe and single 3" and 1 muffler . = better price and i think 1 muffler sounds better than 2 on performance sounding stuff.

and welcome to the site and nice area down south. i was in kernersville nc for a few months last year. went all over when i was down there.

I think i will have to shop around some. Being military and not being a local is a disadvantage. Some people, not all!, see you as a way to squeeze a few extra bucks out of you.

You can buy a hooker or dynamax dual kit for less than $200 and bolt it on yourself, you just have to add a little to that for whatever mufflers you choose. Usually offset inlet, center outlet 2 1/4"

And thank you for your service.

Shop around for sure. Find small shops, even check down in the "hood" it shouldnt cost but 300bux give or take.

This. I paid about $250 for a single exhaust for my truck, plus another $100 for a cat, and probably $40 for some band clamps, and I did it myself. It was easy enough, I just cut the old system off with a sawzall.

Check Summit Racing, or just Google for it.

I would shop around more and also recommend doing a y pipe into a single 3in or if you do go with duals make sure you get a x pipe. I just order a 2.5 to 3in magnaflow y pipe, dynomax welded flowthrough muffler, and a 4 foot piece of 3in tube from summit for 124$

They sold me a stick and bent mine up for 50 bucks at meineke. I welded the mufflers on at the house
