was it ever a factory option to have a dual exhaust on a K5? If so how was it routed between the frame and t-case?

my 86 has it, never looked to see how it was done, ill try to get pictures, its not stock. Stockthey might of had a y pipe to single cat, then either a y to two mufflers or one muffler twin tails, but im just speaking in terms of other gm vehicles ive seen.

That would be great. I would appropriate the pics. Also how is it routed around the gas tank?

The 73-80 K5's had duals optional, but when I went to look them up at the parts stores I worked at,Walker and the other muffler manufacturers didn't have listings for the Blazers, only some pickups --I was told by the Walker factory rep that if less than 10,000 vehicles were made with a certain exhaust system, they felt it wasn't worth while to reproduce them, tooling costs proved too expensive to make enough profit...

You can buy aftermarket dual exhaust from Jegs,Summit,etc..I think Hooker makes them, and they are only about 125 bucks (less mufflers)..I had some customers buy the pickup dual exhaust pipes and they "customized" them themselves..hardly worth your effort now when you can buy them ready fit though..

what is the best aftermarket exhaust? I would like to go stainless. also i need to get some headers. also would like to only buy made in usa.

My 76 Jimmy has it stock, I've read several times that 77 was the last year you could find it on a Blazer. Mine came with a 400 smallblock also, and from what I gather from reading around when I first got it (making sure I could smog it in CA) that's another factor in finding a truck that had them stock.

Both my 77's had duals stock, one is a 400 which might have come standard with duals.

As far as kits go, I have experience with Hooker and Dynomax. While the hooker kit could have fit better, it was MUCH nicer than the crappy Dynomax setup. The Hooker kit uses mandrel bends too.

my 78 has the holes predrilled in the frame for hanger supports on both side of the frame.
