Is it a gimmick or is it a decent tool? I have doubts about how sharp those blades will stay and how much power it has. They advertise it like it'll cut steel and stay sharp. I probably wouldn't use it for anything other then wood but it'd be nice to be able to cut steel/aluminum if I need to.

I won't be buying one anytime soon but I'm interested to see if it does what they claim.

tho i like the concept, I can't buy into a power tool for 9.99... Harbor Freight angle grinders, similarly priced, tho ok for some, are the biggest POS Taiwan stuff you can get.. I have to assume this tool is similar, due to the pricing.... not worth my time...

quality like a Milwaukee? sure then I might check into it...

Sears has had a dual saw for years. Get the tool catalog from a store and its in there with the electric saws. Goes on sale for 59.99 from time to time. I have seen the Sears one in action, a ac guy on a job site had it to cut sheet metal. Worked ok from what I saw of it.

I'm with ya on that... I'll never buy an electric power tool from harbor freight unless it has a warranty plan.

That being said it says on the website that the price is 3 payments of 59.99 or $180:deal:

I'll have to check sears version out.

Did i miss something or possibly you did? The link shows a saw for 3 payments of 59.99 = 179.97 plus 39.99 shipping and handling so you're looking at 219.96 for this saw.

actually i didn't even look at the link... but I was pretty damn certain thats what Billy "cokehead" Mays has been saying on that damn infomercial I've seen like a million times...

i could be wrong...

I laugh everytime I see the dude with the grinder vz the chick with the dual saw trying to cut open a safe.... they say the guy has 20 years experience (or something like that) and the girl is a beginner, yet the dude with the grinder is OBVIOUSLY making it look harder to cut then it is. He tries to push the grinder (good way to get kick back) instead of pulling it. Some pro.

Your right....

You can "try it out" for 30 days for 9.95 and decide whether you want it or not. The actual price is 180 bucks though.

I have the Craftsman version of this saw. It is awesome. It's kind of miserable to run because of the hot shrapnel it emits, but definitely a clean fast cutting tool.

How do the blades wear? And how much are the blades to replace? Will it cut through 1/4" plate?

"as seen on TV"= crap gimmick. nuff said.

I've got the Craftsman one. I never tried 1/4", but I doubt it without it killing the blades. It works great on sheetmetal, though. I liked it a lot better than either a recip or cut off wheel.

I bought one of the Harbor Freight 7 inch angle grinders. It's that ugly pinkish orange color. This thing atually works. It's not a high quality tool but it works. I bought a good 7 inch abrasive cutting wheel and installed it. It cuts fast. Much faster than my DeWalt 4.5 inch. I was cutting 3/8 inch steel plate. No problem. Powerfull and fast grinder too. Don't get their cheap blue colored 4" or 4.5" angle grinders from Harbor Freight. They are junk.

The 'dual-saw' and the craftsman versions are knock offs of Fein's multimaster tool.
All of these work with high frequency vibration to cut, they do not 'spin' like a traditional grinder.

check out the Fein, it's one bad mutha!(I'm a FNG still, so I can't post a link)

I'm sure the dual-saw does in fact work, but it is prolly only good for a once in a while 'honey-do' chore. Kinda like all the other seen on TV tools compared to their professional/industrial counterparts.

imho, what the dual-saw and the craftsman unit cost, I'd save for the Fein, just cause I know I could regularly use it, with no ill effects.

Ive got a multimaster as well, best tool I own in my opinon!

No, that would be incorrect. The "dual saw" has 2 counter rotating blades.

The Fein Multimaster is a great tool, but not the same thing.

thats what i thought... i've been using a multimaster for about 20 yrs now.. was pretty sure those dualsaw blades where spinning..

You know what... I was actually impressed with Harbor Freights 9" grinders. We had a ton of em around the shop and they worked great and rarely broke (when they did it was due to them being dropped). Like you said though their 4" grinders are absolute junk. I had a 4" HF grinder that lasted me a month... damn thing got so hot you had to wear gloves to use it.
