Dual Shock Mounts ?

I'm wondering why my Blazer has dual front shock mounts. Can I remove one of them ?
You can but you need the shock from a single setup.
I think the 81 and up came with the dual so you need a shock from the 80 and earlier.
Just removing one from a dual setup will make it too loose and will not control the bumps good enough

Not quite. Single shock at each corner were standard for the full run of squarebody trucks. Quad shocks (two on each side up front) on front was only an option in the 81-91 run. Any good, modern mono-tube shock is a better replacement than the original quad shock setup. Bilstein, KYB, or any of the name brands will work great. If you have a lift and want flex off-road, you can upgrade your upper shock mount for better travel using the single shock setup as well.

I already purchased a full suspension kit with bilstein shocks. I was just wondering if I was supposed to get 2 more for the front.

Meaning the rear mount on the frame ? Can I remove the front mount then ?
Meaning where the front shocks mount on the axle. The factory quad shock used a longer bolt in that spot to go through two shocks at the same time, one in the normal position and the extra inboard of the bracket in single shear. But if someone converted your truck previously, they likely already replaced that bolt with a shorter one.

The extra brackets on the front section of frame are riveted on. They can be removed safely if you don't use them.

Here’s what KENNYW is telling you about - ‘81~’91 RPO Z75 option.

I initially stated the following -
“The front ( more vertical one ) is the single shock position.”
but after getting corrected by CHEVYK10 it is the other way around - sorry for the reversed info.

The factory single shock position is the one further to the rear, actually, where the bumpout in the frame is. The front quad shock has the riveted on bracket on the frame.
Damn - that’s right !

Sorry for the backwards info given and appreciate the correction - gett’n old and soft in the head as the years go by…

I made a correction note on the post so bad info won’t be given.
