ok so I have a 78 k20. Oh wait..

hi my name is Jeff.. I own a truck that I have had a for a lil while... some of you have heard of it... BWAHHAHAHAHAHA..

ok so
I have my 87 tank and 87 float/fuel pump running and love it.
I am gonna get my 2nd tank soon as both 78's have rotten out...
and if I add a 2nd tank/pump... I need a way to set it up..

now I have 2 ways of doing this and looking for input.

I currently have the working electronics of the 1 wire setup - 6 line (2 fuel/2 return from tanks - 1 fuel and 1 return to motor) tank solenoid or whatever they call it. sorry bit :poop: faced right now...

so got me thinkin...
I could switch to that 5 wire setup but I don't know what it would take to rewire what I got.

now my 2nd choice.. im leaning towards.. is

leave stock switch in place. works. switches tanks left/right...
add a 2nd switch and put power to fuel pump (which is from ez-wiring 21 kit)...
take switch... on/off/on switch.. to be left / off / right...
and then I gain a cutoff switch - kinda theft deterent.. unless someone here steals my truck but im also thinking of another shutoff too LOL....

so 2nd tank and fuel pump and float will be ordered soon... how to wire..
what would you do?

thx all

oh and I was creative a long time ago for those that need to know the wiring of the old 78's-ish wiring and coloring.. did a good job huh...

color coded to my current truck...

I never thought of this but I now remember that I have a setup from each, the single wire from a 79 and 5 wire from an 89.
So the 5 wire is to accommodate the 2 electric fuel pumps, thinking it would switch power from one side to the other so only the side working has the fuel pump running.
Thanks for the post even though I am not sure that is what you are asking.

Well the dual tank up to 86 needed only one wire to switch the sender from tank to tank.
87 and up has electric fuel pumps and you only want to run the pump in the tank being used. So the switch does more and needs more wires.
Now there's another option but I need to check how it works but my big rig has dual tanks and both run at the same time and the fuel is leveled between the 2.

Putting a TBI fuel injection system into an old square body with dual saddle tanks can be quite a project. It requires the wiring of the correct dash rocker switch that goes to a solenoid, and then down to a TBI style tank selector switch, which has all the fuel return lines to the saddle tanks.

I should have all that stuff.
I will look for it and gather it up in case he needs it

Let me know what and how much? Im still leaning towards takin my elec fuel pump wire and throwing switch inbetween. Still requires 2 switches to do this ....
