Yes, beat to death. I know.
Back story, I just bought the truck, fuel gauge did not work, no matter where the switch was at, so today I decided to dig around and see what I could find.
Interesting stuff indeed. The motor is swapped in, and it has an electric fuel pump instead of a mech. pump. Also appears to have all the wiring in tact back there, so I pulled the switch out, and did a resistance test, and then a voltage test of the plug. I got strange fluctuating voltages, and after I plugged it back in, the fuel gauge started working, but only on the right hand tank. Left still shows empty, and it most definitely is not.
So I'd bet my problem is old corroded wiring. Where can I buy a new harness? Or does GM still sell stuff for their older vehicles? M&H Wiring doesn't list one, and nor does Painless.
Also, where can I buy a factory service manual for the truck, that will have detailed wiring schematics? Thanks!
