I don't know if I said anything about this before, while on my way home from BlazerBash I seemed to have lost my rear brakes on my dually.
I kept the rest of the drive (120 miles) very slow. Now when I was pretty close to home they started working again. I checked fluid level, pads, adjustment, hoses, proportioning valve centered, fluid flow @ the output of the master cylinder, ect. everything fine. They have been working fine ever since, until last week. I took it down to a gravel road and jump on the brakes, Fronts lock instantly, backs nothing. If I push the e-brake it will lock them no problem. The truck does have rear anti-lock brakes, but even with the anti-lock control unplugged I get nothing.
I tried "tapping" on the abs unit and the brakes did seem to improve a little the first time they were applied, then right back to nothing. So I plugged the abs controller back in and headed home.
On the way home they started working again
I'm thinking it's the abs dumping the pressure every time I hit the brakes. Maybe a sticking valve?
I think I've decided to bypass the abs. Before anyone goes nuts I am very familiar with driving trucks without abs and do plan on installing an adjustable proportioning valve to fine tune the brakes.
My front brakes are starting to shake a little and are worn enough to need replacement. So I'll be replacing everything; calipers, rotors, soft brakelines, mastercylinder, rear drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, and by passing the abs unit.
Is there anything else that you guys can think of that I need to replace or bypass to end this problem. If this happens in a panic situation I'd be screwed. I'm also afraid to tow anything or load it heavy until I know this won't happen anymore.
Any thoughts or advice is welcomed.

Sounds like I've got some corrosion or dirt in the abs controller. I think I'll bypass the sucker so I don't have this happen again.
