Hi all... I know this topic has came up a little before, but I havent found any recent ones. I just recently came in to a 80 4x burban. 350 350 205. I also just had a 1 ton dually rear end and springs donated. So, I was thinking that to make this a dually all I will need to come up with is rear fenders, possibly some welding or dually spring hangers, and eventually a front end to match. The ultimate goal is to make this a tow rig. Eventually, I would be swapping the 350 / 350 out for possibly a 454 / th400.

Has anyone done this? If so, what problems will I run in to? Any thoughts on should I or Shouldn't I? At this point I have a grand sunk in to it total including the axle and springs....

Imho if you're not gonna chop the top off and put in a fifth wheel receiver I personally see no real benefit. Duallys benefit from having the load stacked on top of the axle and unless you can do that which means hacking up a perfectly good truck it seems to me that it would be a lot of wasted effort. Again just my opinion I'm sure others will chime in. :xmas:

Yea, I am sure it wont help a whole lot with the load. But, I want the 1 ton springs under it, and the whole set up was free. So, I figured it would be a chance to get the stronger springs that I want and make something that is somewhat unique. At least for my area.

I saw a Dually Suburban and it looked good but I have to say that I tow big loads just fine with single rear wheels and I kind of scoff at all the dually trucks running around with toppers on the back. Whats the point? Plus I would rather buy 4 tires at a time than 6. Use the springs and axle and Single rear wheels is what I would probably do.

I'm pretty sure the dually burb conversions use their own unique rear fender flares, I don't think the stock truck pieces will fit.

Uh, tire blowout safety for one thing. Better stability in crosswinds for another.

i no theres not much for fuction in making it a dually, but i like it, the badass factor is always good....and dually burbs, look badass....

Yea, I think we are gonna start on it here real soon. Just tryin to decide what we want to do for a front end now. Anyone know what its gonna take to mount the narrower springs? Im sure we will do a shackle flip at the same time. Should I just have to trade out the front hanger from a one ton?

Front and rear hangers, but not sure you need to change them I don't think its a tire Clarence issue with a true dually rear axle might be with a cab and chassis axle. The spring mounts on the axle are going to be different so its not a true bolt in.

Theres a dually blazer in town. I'm pretty sure it just runs stock fenders off a k30

thats sounds pretty pointless, but still badass and awesome, u should try and get a pic of that, im sure a couple people would want to see that thing.:wink1:
