Dually CUCV

Yep, the M1009 K5 Blazers are all just regular 1/2 ton Blazers suspension and axle wise. They just have the heaviest springs GM would put under a half ton Blazer and for the drivetrain they have the J-code 6.2L instead of the C-code and the TH400 instead of a TH700R4 or SM465.

why would he swap in 3.73's in the dually? probably took the 4.56's and locker out for himself. in that case, no longer all original and the price should drop down to $2500;):haha:

After thinking about it, he was probly wrong in the gears. Also it would show up in the Dana expert, they list the CUCVs with 4.56s, and never heard of GM using 4.88s. Don't pay any attention to me....

Yep, he's famous for having "incorrect facts" on his listings. My M1008 had "dual Dana 60's". His lame-o excuse to this was that most people wouldn't know what a 14FF was... I'd bet the axles haven't been touched and he's probably trying to deflect people's thoughts away from, "damn, 4.56's are LOW...bet it only goes 55mph!" and then being pushed away.

About the Blazer CUCV's; all the ones I see being sold on GL have 6 lug axles, so its safe to say they are 1/2t rated.
Yep, the M1009's are half tons. The military calls them 5/8 tons but that's only because they rate them for their actual ratings and not traditional designations like half ton, one ton, etc etc.
Spring packs are just the heaviest spring packs GM would have put under a half ton (I believe snow plow in the front and towing in the rear) while the engines are J-code 6.2L's and TH400 trans to match the pickups.

See what?:D:D

The second pic is what it currently looks like:(

Notice the different tire sizes. Hey, I only had to drive seven miles like that!

nice i guess after learning whats what with these k5s, a cucv blazer would have been a great start point! im kinda playin catch up with my rig getting everything workin right with all the mods, a cucv would have covered alot of that right off the bat!

well there are good and bad points to each the civvy and cucv vehicles. First the cucv's are all barebones interior, no a/c or radio harness or creature comforts of any kinda, which is a neg point to some like me since my fiancee likes to go on outings with me. If your blackout light system goes down, it takes all the other exterior lights down with it. You have to mod the system to a 12v system unless you like $350 starters. Other than those reasons listed, the cucv vehicles are perfect for what we use them for. Heavy duty, dependable, etc etc. Plus they are pretty cheap if you watch and wait. Heck I got my m1008 in a trade for some labor, so deals are definitely out there.

I added my radio. Wasn't really all that hard. If you own wire crimpers and have ever installed a radio or speakers in a vehicle then you can do this without much trouble.

My overhead light is a LED touch light I got for $5 and stuck to the center of the roof.

No power windows to get slow or die.

I'm removing the blackout system. Not terribly hard to do either.

Nothing wrong with the 24v setup and then the alternater(s) or starter dies you just convert it over to 12v and run 12v stuff for cheaper. That's my plan...or you buy a Deuce and a Half and other OD green equipment and have a reason to keep it 24v...that's my backup plan.

Adding a sliding rear window soon. That with the floor vents should result in some nice air flow through the cab. Never gets too hot except when sitting in traffic.

Cruise would be nice but that's a steering column swap away or an aftermarket kit. I just use my calibrated foot.
